Discover fruit juices and other foods to protect us from Covid-19.
In the fight against Covid-19, experts have made a list of foods that strengthen our immune system against the coronavirus.
Among them, we find various fruit juices, such as orange juice, with Vitamin C, or strawberry juice.
Nutrition is very important to protect ourselves from this disease, so some foods protect us against Covid-19, such as iodine-rich algae oils or omega 3, 6, and 9.
This has been affirmed by the expert María Isabel Lopera Esteban, who is a doctor at the Can Rull Primary Care Center in Sabadell.
The professional, who has a master’s degree in Nutrition and Preventive Medicine, has proposed a series of foods as the most recommended to strengthen the immune system and prevent infections against Covid-19.
And it is that the Coronavirus pandemic continues to affect the whole world.
Therefore, María Isabel gives the first premise in terms of food to strengthen our immune system against Covid-19. “Cooking with olive oil and herbs and spices make the dish healthier to strengthen the immune system”, explains the expert.
In this sense, he gives us an example of herbs or medicinal plants such as “rosemary, mint, parsley, oregano, anise, cloves, curry, pepper, basil”, which “are plants that grow wild and without difficulty.”
Other foods, according to the expert, that are good and recommended to strengthen the immune system against Covid-19 are red meat (veal, beef, lamb …) rich in iron and B vitamins.
In this sense, he points out that “vitamin B deficiency would be a problem in infection situations”; since it would also affect the neurological system.
«Poultry meats are also recommended, although its origin must be known to guarantee its nutritional quality.
Eggs in all their forms are advisable and in abundance. They are proteins of high biological value with amino acids necessary for immunity ”, he argues.
Other foods that are also good to eat are mushrooms in all their forms, algae rich in iodine or omega 3, 6, and 9 oils. For this reason, he recommends eating with “olive oil, nuts or dried fruit oils”; as well as nourishing ourselves with bluefish, such as mackerel, sardines, swordfish, or anchovies. These products “will make the food we eat more protective.”
In this way, the expert also advises consuming preferably dark vegetables such as broccoli, spinach, chard, peas, carrots, pumpkins, or beets.
To this list, we must add fruits such as blueberries, blackberries, Goji berries, kiwis, oranges, papaya, pomegranate, mango, avocado, or strawberries.
For this reason, fruit juices are always vital. Along with this, he cites citrus fruits rich in vitamin C as the “great protagonists” to create a healthy immune environment.
These fruits are recommended in all their varieties of consumption, such as fruit juices, orange juice being one of the best known, for its important richness of vitamin C.
