5 foods that cause inflammation

Discover the 5 foods that cause inflammation.

Inflammation can be good or bad depending on the situation. On the one hand, it is your body’s natural way to protect itself when it is injured or ill, on the other hand, chronic and sustained inflammation is linked to an increased risk of diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, and obesity.

Many times our diet significantly affects inflammation in the body, so it is very important to follow a proper diet and avoid foods such as the following:

1. Sugar and high fructose corn syrup.

These are the two main types of added sugar in the Western diet.

One reason added sugars are harmful is that they can increase inflammation and disrupt anti-inflammatory fats, which can lead to illness, in a randomized clinical trial in which people drank regular soda, diet soda, milk, or water, only those in the soda group had elevated uric acid levels, which drives inflammation and insulin resistance.

And on the other hand, excess fructose can also cause health damage. Eating lots of fructose has been linked to obesity, insulin resistance, diabetes, fatty liver disease, cancer, and chronic kidney disease.

Foods high in added sugar include candy, chocolate, soda, cakes, cookies, donuts, sweet cakes, and certain cereals.

2. Artificial trans fats.

Artificial trans fats are probably the least healthy fats you can eat.

They are created by adding hydrogen to liquid unsaturated fats, to give them the stability of more solid fat and increase the shelf life of various products.

These artificial fats cause inflammation and increase the risk of disease because, in addition to reducing HDL (good) cholesterol, trans fats can affect the function of the cells that line your arteries, which is a risk factor for heart disease.

Foods high in trans fat include French fries and other fried fast foods, some varieties of microwave popcorn, certain margarine and shortenings, packaged cakes and cookies, some cakes, and all processed foods that include oil. partially hydrogenated vegetable on the label.

3. Vegetable oils.

Some scientists believe that certain vegetable oils, such as soybean oil, promote inflammation due to their high content of omega-6 fatty acids, our body always needs a good balance between omega 3 and 6 fats, so an excess of omega-6 can promote inflammation when consumed in large amounts. However, the evidence is inconsistent and more research is needed.

4. Excessive alcohol.

Moderate alcohol consumption has been shown to provide some health benefits, however excess alcohol consumption can lead to serious problems.

People who drink a lot can develop problems with the bacterial toxins that leave the colon and into the body.

This condition often referred to as ‘leaky gut, can cause widespread inflammation leading to organ damage.

To avoid alcohol-related health problems, intake should be limited to two standard drinks per day for men and one for women.

5. Processed meat.

Consuming processed meat is associated with an increased risk of heart disease, diabetes, and stomach and colon cancer.

Common types of processed meat include hot dogs, bacon, ham, smoked meat, and jerky, which when cooked from glycation end products (also called AGEs) that cause inflammation and possibly colon cancer.

Although many factors contribute to colon cancer, an excess of processed meat, a lack of fiber, and some genetic factors can increase your risk.

Inflammation can occur in response to many triggers, some of which are difficult to prevent, such as pollution, injury, or illness, yet you have much more control over factors like your diet.

To stay as healthy as possible, remember to always avoid excesses and consult a nutrition specialist to guide you in a good diet.
